There will be an “Open House” on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 1 – 4 PM at the Field Office.

Please come by if you’d like more info on not only the lead cleanup but the free house-painting programs that we are encouraging people to take advantage of if their homes still have lead-based paint.

 As always, this will be a child-friendly event and all are welcome!


 Hello South Prescott community,

In an effort to help people clear their yard of debris and in preparation for the lead treatment, EPA will be accepting Household Hazardous waste from Jan. 9th – Jan. 31st, 2012, in the lot on the corner of 5th and Center St. We will have a large sign posted on the fence so you won’t miss the location. We will be accepting drop offs, Monday through Friday, 2-7pm, and on Saturday Jan. 28th, 8 am to 4:30 pm.

When you drop off your Household Hazardous waste, you will be ask to provide your name and address because EPA is currently accepting waste only from the South Prescott neighborhood area: 7th St. to 3rd St., and Peralta St. to Mandela Parkway .

Products labeled Caution, Warning, Danger, Poison, Toxic, Flammable, or Corrosive are considered hazardous. Examples of Househould Hazardous Waste that will be accepted include:

·        Aerosols
·        Latex/Oil-Based Paint
·        Antifreeze
·        Pesticides
·        Auto Batteries
·        Pool Chemicals
·        Auto Fluids
·        Propane Tanks- less than 30 gallons
·        Disinfectants
·        Solvents
·        Fertilizers
·        Used Oil and Oil Filters

Items not approved or accepted are:

·        Automotive Tires
·        Ammunition
·        Appliances
·        Asbestos
·        Business Waste
·        Cylinders – Propane Gas or Fire Extinguishers
·        Electronics
·        Explosives, Fireworks or Flares
·        Farm Chemicals
·        Medical Waste
·        Radioactive Waste including Smoke detectors
·        Tires
·        Unidentified Waste
